Cars on the move.

Well here I am bk.. the reason for my temporary absense.. I got a temporary job.. any way though temporary and on a contract basis the first thing the job demanded was that I have a car. Thanks to the poor public transportation in Houston(Texas). Well the last two week ends were a mental torture looknig for cars endless and shunting too and fro across Houston. Back in India we didnt have a car at home except for a brief period during my stay in Bombay. All I knew were the brand names and that Toyota and Honda were the most reliable one ( statistically atlest 95% of desis in USA own either a Honda / Toyota / Nissan ). Though my initial intentions were to buy a decent sports car / coupe. I almost decide to buy an used BMW ( 2D coupe ) but then the lack of expertise in buying cars and a the financial constraints made me take some time-out to make a desicion. I decide to think it over the night and get the car the first thing in the moring. Here's where I learnt the first lesson:

"The car you saw today and think about buying tomorrow is the car another guy saw yesterday and is coming to get today."

I could not get the car over the week end and it was gone when I called the dealer on monday. Alas I had to extend my rental car for the whole week costing a considerable amount of $$$. Come next week end I had to deifntiely buy car and there was not enough time to think or look for sporty models.. alas I resorted to fall in line with the rest of the world and finally bought a used Toyota Corolla.

Well I was all the more happier when I realised that the day coincided with my moms birthday. Well mom that's my birthday gift to you. Only that she wont be able to drive with me for atleast an year.

An amature in car dealings, I think the last two weeks have finally given me a good amount of confidence in buying a car. I still have'nt had the time to post some snaps of the car on my blog.

But for the time being look below for the funnies Ad that I came across while looking for cars. Read the words inside the red bubble.

(PS: Appearance's are deceptive.)

funny ad!

Doesn't anyone get a new car in the U.S? I've heard of many Indian guys buying cars in the U.S and almost of 'em had bought used ones. What's the price difference between a new and a used car, say toyota corrolla, like?

well getting a new car is not all that tough da.. u can go for it if u have a full time job.. and ofcourse if ur ready to spend.. most of the guys buy a car whe n in school and so usually invest small amounts.. a basic model toyota corolla will cost probly 14-15k while a fully loaded honda accord might cost u around 18-19k.. that would come to around 500$ a month if u get it on loan.. so it all depends on how much u earn...
