Soliloquy in Symphony

Well what else could it be.. yes this one is on the Thiruvasagam Symphony by Raaja. So Whats in it. One gets to hear Raaja in his onw inimitable style.. and of course a treat for those who love his voice (Which I do). The Album has six songs of which Raaja has rendered his voice for 5 and hence I would call it a soliloquy. Well suprising that SPB is missing from the list..

So what does the symphony have to offer. Well after about 2-3 rounds of listining to it.. here are a few key notes on the album.

Well is not something like the past orchestations(How to name it.) by Raaja.. All the recitals though good have a rather sad flavour to them... I would rather listen to it during the night before goin to sleep rather than listning to it in the early morning.. (well this actually kinda disappointed me.. getting up early at 6 and listning to this piece of music was sometihng I had imagined) though good I am still skecptical if it would attaract the youths towards listning to it..(this was Raaja reasoning for making a symphony out of the Thiruvasagam-to make the youths listen to it)... I my opinion it would be rather a small stop over for most people except hard core music followers..

The song Pollaa Vinayen by Raaja with english recitals by Ray Harcourt is really good to listen and would be my pick .. among the lot.... especially the parts in english by Harcourt really give a cinematic effect to it..

The album on the whole is a very good piece of music.. except that it seemed a bit gloomy. Does not really make any sense to someone who does not know the thiruvasagam. Reading the translation might do some good. HOwever though it might sound like greek and latin.. Raaja has still made it sound great. It adds tranquility and calms down the disturbed mind. A very good westernisation of the Thiruvasagam. Every time I listened to it.. it led me to discover the hidden pieces of music everywhere... yes... each time u listen to it.. u would discover a note of music u did nt hear the previous time.

Well and finally I am still wondering about what happened to the Symphony that Raaja was working on with SONY. I am still waiting for that one.
