Missing the fine Cut(ting)

huh.. its almost 3 am now and I am here still wide awake with the slightest seepage of sleep into my eyes. A hot glass of tea would be solacing the moment ..especially with a pinch of Adrak (ginger).. back to college days tea was really refreshing and the ofcourse was reslishable despite its 50% water content ...especially after those drooling lectures with the monotonous voice of the professor breaking our sleep intemittantly..... end of lecture and I would zooooooooommm to the canteen....

Seetharam ek cutting lana

Seetharam was the name of the guy in the canteen ....well 'cutting' is nothing but half a glass of tea ..and of course it cost only half the money. one of the best thing about bombay I would say is the 'cutting'.Go to any tea shop and u can get a cutting .. often wht u need when u need a quick small gulp of tea to refresh ur self. The cutting unfortunately is not onthe menu in tamilnadu and I guess most of south India.

Gone r those days when tea was served in the typical irani glass.. infact my undergrad institution ..UDCT ..had this tradition of offering the tea in the irani glass irrespective of who ordered it .. unless otherwise specified..

I still remember that day when K Venkatraman ..kv as they would call him.. (the MD of L&T if I rem correctly) had come to my college to give a lecture..and guess what he too was served his tea in the irani glass.. (as it was not specified to be served in a cup). The canteen walla just got a glass of tea in a small crate .. like the boy in the MTV ad ....... this took KV to remembrandts of his own college days....

a vodka shaken and not stirred when ur on the maimi birdwatching...
huh ..none of these can match a shot of CUTTING after a dull malodarous lecture.
